You can upgrade provided you install the Aprilaire 1213 Upgrade Kit for Aprilaire 2200. The Aprilaire 213 Replacement Filter boasts a MERV 13 rating (compared to the MERV 10 rating of the Aprilaire 201) and removes a higher percentage of contaminants.
