Frond is 8.2 inches long!
This is a large plate of plant fossils from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The distinct fern fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale - quite striking! The detail of the fossils is just amazing, and the individual fern fronds are nicely showcased and naturally spaced on the large plate of shale. There are many nice, individual fronds intact of at least two different types of ferns!
This is a large, impressive display plate of classic white seed fern fossils from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania - very cool!
